Turn your greatest depreciator into a marketing tool you can appreciate! Across the board, authorities on real estate budgets insist that it is necessary to spend 10 percent of your commission income on personal marketing…even when times are tough. I know you’ve heard it before, but it still rings true that “It takes money to make money.” Of course, you want to make sure that your “10 percent” is money well spent and it can take some time and diligent analysis to determine where your dollars are making the most impact. In the meantime, why not make the most of your own mobile billboard - your car.
Assuming you are driving something in good repair and kept in respectable condition (and that you are a consistently courteous driver – no road-ragers here, please!) your car can become a significant player in your real estate marketing mix. This doesn’t mean that you have to clutter up your windows with a bunch of vinyl or fly flags and streamers from the antennae. My suggestion is a much more subtle - yet chic alternative. For only $20 to $50 you can add a personalized license plate frame with your short slogan at the top and your personal Real Estate Web Site address on the bottom.
This holiday season, order a couple for your closest friends, family and favorite clients and you’ll have a mini-arsenal of mobile advertisement. Couple that with keeping an updated real estate blog and current listing information on your site and you’ll build quite a client following - both on the road and on the information superhighway. Hey, it’s the least your car can do for you!
My favorite is the Solid Brass Custom License Plate Frame in Chrome on AutoPlates.com. You can preview your custom design before ordering changing the frame type and letter coloring. You can also take advantage of special pricing on bulk orders.

Great idea. I have had personalized plates for many years. Mine says, ISELL4U but have never added the frame with info on it. I’ll have to give it some thought as I am not always the best driver in the world.
The plate get’s a lot of of comments from people I meet though. I recently added a post on AR asking agents what their plate said.
Nice blog.. Very effective.

What a great idea! I’d also share those custom license plate holders can be created in very small quantities at CafePress.com so you can try a few different designs to see what works before you push ahead with the awesome ones you recommend!

Hey Sarah. This was a great idea. I’m waiting for mine to arrive. I chose my phone number like Brian did, but I opted for an airbrushed one I found at another site. It will be interesting to know if I get any calls for my heating and air-conditioning business.
Cheers,
Matt
